Melinda Laz is excited start her 3rd year as Visual Art teacher at McKinley-Thatcher. Previously, Melinda taught in DPS and in Cherry Creek Schools. She holds a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, MO; an MA in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and an MA in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Denver. She grew up in upstate New York and has spent time in several cities around the U.S., but loves to call Colorado home.
When not in the classroom, Melinda exhibits her own artwork in shows around Denver and across the United States. She believes that all children are creative and imaginative, and she strives to create a classroom where students feel comfortable exploring many types of art media, techniques and ideas.
