Melinda Laz is excited to join the McKinley-Thatcher team this year as the Art teacher. Previously, Melinda taught in both DPS and in Cherry Creek Schools. She holds a BFA with a specialty in printmaking from Washington University in St. Louis, MO; an MA in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and a teaching certificate in K-12 Art Education from the University of Denver. She grew up in upstate New York and spent time in several cities around the U.S. including St. Louis, Portland, OR and Chicago. She has lived in the Platt Park neighborhood with her husband and daughter since 2001.

Melinda has exhibited her art in shows around Denver and across the United States. She brings her deep love of art to the classroom where she hopes to inspire the next generation of artists. She believes that all children are creative and imaginative, and she strives to create a classroom where students feel comfortable exploring many types of art media, techniques and ideas.
