Student Council Is Here!

    Posted 12/09/2016

We are excited to announce that McKinley-Thatcher is starting its own Student Council! Our Student Council advisors — Ms. Evans (3rd grade), Mrs. Laz (art), and Ms. Stenftennagel (5th grade) — are working hard with over 30 students from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade who are interested in running for a position on the council. We’ve seen some wonderful and very creative campaign posters up around the school this week!

Our student council will consist of seven students from the upper grades: two from 3rd grade, two from 4th grade, and three from 5th grade. Each of the three grades will have a president and a vice president, and one 5th grader will serve as the council secretary. The council members will work together to come up with fun school spirit days, fundraisers, community service activities, and more!

    Important Student Council Dates

    • December 9 – students candidates give campaign speeches to their own class
    • December 9 – council elections take place
    • December 12 – election winners announced to the whole school
    • December 16 – student council class presidents give a speech during our Student Recognition Assembly
    • January 12 to end of school year – meetings will be held twice a month during lunch (meeting day to be determined)
