Welcome to McKinley-Thatcher Elementary!

Our teachers and staff are committed to offering your child hands-on, individualized learning filled with opportunities for academics, arts, music, technology, physical education, and field trips. At McKinley-Thatcher, we inspire authentic, joyful learners who are ready to explore the world!

Most of our classrooms have under 25 students, and each student receives daily instruction in core content areas. Our small size allows our teachers to offer individualized educational experiences that meet each child’s specific needs. All of our students participate in hands-on learning and unique experiential opportunities with our partners, including South Platte River Environmental Education and the Denver Zoo. 

We are also excited to offer:

• Discovery Link – before and after-school care for students.
• After-school enrichment opportunities for students including cooking, science, woodworking, and more!
• State-of-the-art STEM SmartLab, art studio, library, and flexible learning spaces for all of our students.

We want to make the transition to McKinley-Thatcher effortless and fun for our new students and families. With that in mind, please mark your calendars for some important upcoming events:

• Kindergarten Round-Up: Thursday, May 13, 1:00pm-1:30pm; click here to see our Zoom meeting recording!
• School Registration (online ONLY): Monday, August 9 to Monday, August 16
• Open House: Thursday, August 19 (times to be determined)
• First Day of School & Welcome Celebration: Monday, August 23 (times to be determined)

Stay connected to McKinley-Thatcher before school starts! We don’t yet know what next year will look like in terms of our COVID health and safety guidelines. We will keep our website updated, so check back in over the summer for the latest information. Families may also visit the DPS website for more information on next school year’s in-person learning option as well as the remote learning option.
