All our McKinley-Thatcher families are invited to celebrate our annual Cultural Festival with us on Friday, April 23 from 5:00pm to 6:15pm!
New this year, the festival is going 100% virtual. Because of this big change, our festival looks different from previous years. We will cook dinner together in a live group cooking class offered by the League of Kitchens cooking school and have independent digital activities for families to complete at their own pace! Students will bring home their school Chromebooks so that all families will have a way to participate.
We’ll share our festival’s Zoom link and activity links using ClassDojo and News from the Nest.
We’re excited to have Chef Mirta of the League of Kitchens cooking school join us during our festival to teach our families how to cook hongos con provolone (mushrooms with provolone) while exploring some of the history and culture of her native Argentina! (Families who don’t like mushrooms can make the recipe with skirt steak, instead.)
To prepare for our cooking lesson, families should review our recipe list here and buy their ingredients in time for the festival on April 23. If your family needs financial assistance to buy ingredients, please call us at (720) 424-5605!
We apologize for scheduling our virtual Cultural Festival during the month of Ramadan — this was a mistake on our part and we will make sure it does not happen again next year. Thank you!
Families may have heard from their classroom teachers inviting them to add a family recipe to a classroom cookbook. We’re hoping families will take the time to share a recipe because we’re planning to put them all together to create the first-ever McKinley-Thatcher digital cookbook, to be shared as part of our Cultural Festival!
