Restaurant Fundraiser @ Fire on the Mountain on September 20! 

Our PTA’s September restaurant fundraiser is Tuesday, September 20 at Fire on the Mountain’s Wash Park location (300 S. Logan St., Unit 102)! Fire on the Mountain is donating 10% of their entire sales for the day and night to our school, including dining-in, takeout, online orders, and merchandise purchases – no special code needed! Tell your friends and family to come eat some wings and raise some money for our school at the same time!

Our PTA’s 2nd Annual Movie Night Is October 13!

Our PTA is excited to bring back one of last year’s most popular school events, our 2nd Annual Outdoor Movie Night on Thursday, October 13! We’re planning for a 6:00pm arrival and 7:00pm showtime. Just a reminder that we have NO school that Friday, October 14.

Our kids will get to vote on the movie we show in the coming weeks, and PTA will have pizza slices and movie snacks (popcorn and candy) for sale! Please RSVP here so that we can begin to plan ahead for food and supplies!

In Other News!

  • A special message from our librarian: Help us get free books to our kids!
    Our library is hoping to find a couple of community volunteers to restart our “Free Book Friday” giveaway. Over the last few years, we’ve collected lots of good books that could use new homes and you can help them get there! Traditionally, one Friday a month after school, we set up tables on our playground with our donated books and give families the chance to take some home!  

    We are looking for one or two volunteers to take charge of Free Book Friday. This would involve arriving at 2:15pm and setting up tables with books to be selected. You would restock the tables as books are taken. We’ll take care of the rest!

    It would be wonderful to see these books get into the hands of our great readers, and we hope you consider taking part in this project. Please email us at McKinley_Thatcher@dpsk12.org or call us at (720) 424-5600 if you’re interested in helping!

  • Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL on Thursday, September 29 or Friday, September 30. These are planning days for our staff!

  • We all need internet access! The federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program offers families up to $30/month discount on your internet (up to $75/month if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands) and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet or desktop computer! Visit www.affordableconnectivity.gov to see if your household qualifies!

  • The University of Denver is offering their School Days Off sports day programs again this year – please check out this flyer for more information. Scholarships are available!
