2nd Annual Outdoor Movie Night Is NEXT WEEK!

Don’t forget that all members of our school community are invited to our PTA’s 2nd Annual Outdoor Movie Night on Thursday, October 13 (event begins at 6:00pm; movie showtime is 7:00pm)! Movie Night will be hosted on our school grounds, so bring your own outdoor seating to get comfy (lawn chairs, blankets, etc.) and your own picnic, or plan to buy pizza at the event! We’ll also have movie snacks for sale. Please RSVP here, especially if you’re planning to buy pizza!

This week, our kids got to vote in their classrooms to decide which movie we’ll show. We’re tallying the votes for our three options: Sonic 2, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Bad Guys. We’ll announce our winning movie next week!

Just a reminder, this is a FAMILY event, so please plan to attend with your children (childcare is not provided).

Make Your Voice/Tu Voz Heard by DPS!

Please take a moment to complete DPS’s “Your Voice/Tu Voz” surveys! These surveys are an opportunity for our students, families, and staff to share about their experiences in DPS. Responses to the survey direct the decisions that DPS makes on how they can better serve our community. The survey deadline is Monday, October 17 (extended from October 9).

2021-2022 Yearbooks Are Coming Home Today!

Yearbooks for the 2021-2022 school year are going home with returning students in their Friday Folders today! We’re also sending home an extra yearbook with students who have a sibling who was a McKinley 5th grader last year. 

Do you prefer receiving the yearbook at the end of the school year or beginning? Please respond to our PTA’s Yearbook Feedback Form to let us know your preferences! We would love your thoughts and suggestions!

Our wonderful PTA provides yearbooks free to all McKinley-Thatcher families. If you are willing to help offset their costs, please make a donation through our PTA website. The suggested donation to offset one yearbook is $10. 

In Other News!

  • Our family/teacher conferences are happening next week! Please check in with your student’s teacher if you haven’t yet signed up for a time slot or if you need a reminder about your scheduled time. 

  • Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL on Friday, October 14 or Monday, October 17!

  • PTA’s October restaurant fundraiser is Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18 at Chook Charcoal Chicken (1300 S. Pearl St.)! Families can order in-person or online to have a percentage of the proceeds donated to our school! We’ll share our special online code next week.

  • Just a reminder that our Fall 2022 school pictures are now available for families to view and order online! For more information on ordering and picture retakes, visit our webpost here.

  • The University of Denver’s School Days Off sports day camps still have spots open for the upcoming school breaks, and they have scholarships available!
