Birdcall Restaurant Day Fundraiser Is Tuesday, 11/8!

Join us for our PTA’s November restaurant fundraiser on Tuesday, November 8 between 11:00am and 10:00pm at any Birdcall location in Denver! Birdcall is donating 35% of all sales made when using our special McKinley code back to our school. Our code is mtes1108. For drive-thru orders, please mention our code before ordering.

The more food ordered, the more money we’ll raise! Help us spread the word to your family and friends!

GLOW Dance Fall Fundraiser on Friday, 11/11!

The McKinley-Thatcher community is cordially invited to our GLOW Dance fundraiser on Friday, November 11 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in our cafeteria! We’ll have a special guest appearance by DJ Cyn (who is back from last year’s auction)!

Admission to the dance is FREE! We will have food, glow toys, and other fun available for sale by purchasing raffle tickets at the door. We have a limited number of free tickets to give out to families in need of assistance. If your family would benefit from these free tickets, please let us know in our RSVP form!

Changes to Some of Our Annual November School Events

Due to space limitations and out of respect for our indigenous community members, we are not hosting a Thanksgiving meal or Turkey Trot event for families this year. DPS Food Services will offer a Thanksgiving-themed lunch for students only on Thursday, November 17 and our classrooms may conduct Thanksgiving-themed learning, but we will focus on a culturally responsive way to learn about this time in American history. We will be replacing our Turkey Trot with another family fun-run event later in this school year. Please contact our office if you have questions about our plans. Thank you for understanding!

In Other News!

Our first Collaborative School Committee (CSC) is next Tuesday, November 8 at 5:00pm on Google Meet! CSC meetings are an opportunity for all our stakeholders to have a voice in building the school we want for our community. Committee meetings are always open to the public, so anyone can participate at any time!

At our first meeting, we are looking for family and community members to join and serve on our CSC for the whole school year. We’ll also be nominating committee officers and learning about the functions of the CSC.

Kindergarten, 1st grade, & 2nd grade students are invited to join our K-2 Jump Rope Club with Mr. J, our PE teacher! For full details and to apply, please see our Jump Rope Club flyer here or in your November 4 Friday Folders. Jump Rope Club forms are due by Monday, November 7!
During the month of November, we are teaching and learning about our third school value, challenge yourself!
Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL from Monday, November 21 to Friday, November 25 for our fall break!
Submit your information for PTA’s Contact Books by Monday, November 7! The McKinley-Thatcher PTA creates annual Contact Books for each classroom to help families schedule playdates, birthday parties, and other events. Each contact book is shared only with families in the same classroom. If you’d like to have your contact information included in the contact book for your student’s class, please complete the green Contact Book Information form that went home in Friday Folders a few weeks ago. Please return your form to the office by Monday, November 7. If you prefer to submit your information digitally, please see the instructions on the bottom of our form.
Fundraise for McKinley-Thatcher while supporting a neighborhood business and enjoying some great wine at the same time! Pearl Wine Company (PWC), a South Pearl St. staple, is hosting their annual anniversary wine tasting on Saturday, November 12 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. 100% of the proceeds from each tasting ticket purchased through our special McKinley-Thatcher link come back to our school.
