December Food Drive — December 5 to December 9

McKinley-Thatcher is excited to hold our annual December Food Drive next week from Monday, December 5 to Friday, December 9. Our food drive directly supports school families who need food assistance over Winter Break!

What Can We Donate & Where Do We Drop It Off?

We are looking for donations of the following items:

  • Canned goods (fruits, vegetables, beans, etc.)
  • Shelf-stable goods (cereal, pasta, applesauce, etc.)
  • $25 gift cards to Target & Walmart (preferred) or Safeway & King Soopers
  • Please be sure to check expiration dates on all donated food items!

Food item donations can be dropped off in the donation box in your child’s classroom any day from December 5 to December 9!

Gift card donations can be dropped off in our main office.

I’d Like to Volunteer!

We need volunteers to help pick up food drive donations from each classroom every day next week. We also need volunteers to help organize and pack up donations for distribution on Monday, December 12. If you’d like to help out, please visit our SignUpGenius!

Where Do the Donations Go?

All donated food items and gift cards go to McKinley families in need of assistance over Winter Break. Leftover donations will be used to support families throughout the rest of the school year!

The Grade Level That Donates the Most Wins a Special Party!

The grade level that collects the most donations during the drive wins a special Ice Cream Sundae Party from our PTA! Our party will be held the week before Winter Break begins.
