Our December CSC Meeting Is Next Tuesday, 12/12!

Did you know that almost half of McKinley-Thatcher students identify as BIPOC? At our next CSC meeting, we’ll be brainstorming ways for families to help promote racial equity at our school and beyond, and we need your ideas! Join us at our meeting this coming Tuesday, December 12 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Google Meet at this link.

What’s the CSC?

McKinley-Thatcher’s Collaborative School Committee (CSC) consists of all our school stakeholders (educators, families, and community members) and is an opportunity for everyone to have a voice in building the school we want for our community. Our meetings are always open to the public, so anyone can participate at any time!

Haulidays Toy Drive with Junk King

We have an extra opportunity to spread some holiday love with the help of one of our school sponsors, Junk King!

Every year, Junk King runs a holiday toy drive for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver. This year, McKinley families are invited to participate in the toy drive by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the red collection bin set up in our main office! We’ll be collecting toys until Friday, December 15 (the last day before winter break). Families can also scan the QR code on the red collection bin for a discount on junk removal services by Junk King.

Other School News

  • We are still looking for a couple volunteers to help us distribute our Food Drive donations to school families after school on Wednesday, December 13! If you can help out, please sign up here!

  • Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL from Monday, 12/18 to Tuesday, 1/2 for our winter break. School resumes on Wednesday, 1/3!

Community News & Resources

  • The City of Denver’s Tasty Food program is serving FREE snacks and dinners to kids ages 5 to 18 at a city rec center near you during winter break! See Tasty Food’s winter break schedule here or check out the City of Denver’s Tasty Food website here for more information!
