NEXT WEEK: Celebrate International Night at McKinley!

Just a reminder that our International Night event is next Thursday, April 18 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in our cafeteria and gym. 

International Night is an opportunity for McKinley families to come together to celebrate the many beautiful cultural heritages that make up our community. Enjoy a potluck dinner, see fun performances, and browse our diverse and multilingual book fair while you’re here! All are welcome! No need to RSVP.

Help Us Make Our Potluck Dinner Amazing!

We need more dishes to make our potluck dinner a success! Families are invited to bring a homemade dish that’s important to them to share with our community. Sign up to bring using this form (available in English, Spanish, & Vietnamese) or this form (available in Arabic).

Please note that bringing a dish is optional – families are invited to join us for dinner whether or not they bring food!

Remember that culture isn’t just from foreign countries! Bring a dish that is important to your family, no matter where you’re from.

Volunteer For International Night!

We need family volunteers to help make International Night a success! If you’re available for a one-hour time commitment on the evening of Thursday, April 18, please sign up here!

Kindergarten – 5th Grade Student Learning Showcase Is Wed., 5/1!

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Kindergarten – 5th Grade Student Learning Showcase on Wednesday, May 1 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm! All kindergarten through 5th grade students and their families are invited to attend. Students will present key aspects of their learning in their grade level classes and specials classes to their families. We will share more information next week!

Other School News

  • Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 19. This is a DPS staff planning day.

  • 3rd-5th grade families: our CMAS literacy testing begins on Monday, April 15! For more information on CMAS testing, including our full testing calendar, visit our website here.

  • Save-the-Date: our PTA’s April restaurant fundraiser is Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 with Chook on Pearl Street. We’ll share more information next week!

  • QPR Gatekeeper Training: on Monday, April 22, we’ll be hosting a QPR Gatekeeper Training in suicide prevention for our school and several neighboring schools from 4:45pm to 6:15pm. For more information, and to register for this training, please see our event flyers in English, Arabic, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
