Colorado Gives Day is Happening NOW – Support McKinley!

Hello, McKinley families! Exciting news from the PTA – we’ve launched our very first Colorado Gives Day campaign!

What is Colorado Gives Day?

It’s Colorado’s largest day of giving when donations to Colorado nonprofits like McKinley-Thatcher are boosted by the Colorado Gives Foundation!

Early Giving is Happening Now!

From now until December 10, all gifts are boosted by a $1 million Incentive Fund. Plus, start a new monthly donation, and your first gift will be matched up to $100, doubling your impact!

Visit our donation page and make a donation to help us reach our goal of $10,000. Let’s make this first campaign a success – thank you for supporting McKinley!

Our Fall Book Fair Is NEXT WEEK!

Our Fall Book Fair is running from Monday, November 18 to Friday, November 22 after school in our gym and art room! To help keep our building secure, fair visitors may not enter or exit the fair through our building or main doors. Instead, please plan to access the fair through our alleyway doors — simply follow the book fair signs in the alley! For full details about our book fair, visit our website here.

Book Fair Schedule

  • Monday, November 18 – 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (gym)
  • Tuesday, November 19 – 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (gym)
  • Wednesday, November 20 – CLOSED!
  • Thursday, November 21 – 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (art room)
  • Friday, November 22 – 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (art room)
    • The fair will be open during our Glow Dance!

ALSO NEXT WEEK: Glow Dance Is Friday, November 22!

We hope to see you at our PTA’s third annual Glow Dance fundraiser on Friday, November 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in our cafeteria! Admission to the dance is FREE, and we’ll have food, glow accessories, face paint, and other fun available for sale by purchasing raffle tickets at the door.

Other School News

  • Mark your calendars: we have NO SCHOOL from Monday, November 25 to Friday, November 29 for our fall break! School resumes on Monday, December 2.

  • Volunteer with Free Book Friday to help our students build a love of reading! We still have a few Free Book Friday volunteer spots open in late November and most of December – if you’d like to assist, please sign up here!
  • We’re so proud to share a special announcement: McKinley alum Miles Noble has recently published his second book, Bunny and the Big Island! Miles is currently an 8th grader in DPS. This is the second book in his “Bunny and the Stuffed Animal Squad” series. Check it out on Amazon!

Community News & Resources

  • Families are invited to sign up for the Annual Holiday Toy Shop offered by Kenzi’s Causes on Saturday, December 7 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the National Western Complex (4655 Humboldt St.). Each registered child will receive a NEW toy, a stuffed animal, and a card game! Registration is REQUIRED and will open on Thursday, December 5 at www.kenziscauses.org.
