REMINDER: NO SCHOOL From 3/24 to 4/1!
We have NO SCHOOL from Monday, March 24 to Tuesday, April 1. This is our Spring Break. School will resume on Wednesday, April 2!
Join Us For International Night on Friday, 4/11!
We are so excited to host our annual International Night on Friday, April 11 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM!
- Potluck Dinner: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Bring a potluck dish that’s important to your family, whether it’s something from your home country or something American! We can’t wait to taste your delicious food!
- If you would like to bring a dish, let us know by signing up here!
- Performance: 6:00 PM
- Enjoy a lion dance performance by the Colorado Asian Culture Heritage Center Dragon & Lion Dance Association. The lion dance was a huge hit last year, so make sure you don’t miss it!
The International Night committee needs volunteers to make this event a success! If you can help out, please sign up for a volunteer shift here – all shifts are 30 minutes, so you’ll have time to enjoy the fun, too! We are so grateful for your support!

McKinley-Thatcher Elementary Yearbook – We Need Your Help!
Do you have photos from school events that we can include in the yearbook? We’d love to include your photo submissions so we have the best chance at representing the whole school community! We’re looking for pictures of specials, library time, staff appreciation, snow days, field trips, Movie Night, Glow Dance, International Night, and more!
Parents, guardians, caregivers, students, staff – please submit photos here! If you already have a Shutterfly account, you might have to log in with that account, or try using a different email address altogether.

Other School News
- Congratulations to our Destination Imagination teams! McKinley-Thatcher represented strongly at the 5280 Destination Imagination tournament this past Saturday. The fifth grade team won third place out of nine teams in the Scientific category, qualifying for the state tournament on April 5! The two second grade teams performed well and had a great time; that level is not ranked, but we know the judges were impressed with their creativity and energy! Way to go, Eagles!
- School Garden Work Day TOMORROW! Our Garden Club is holding a work day tomorrow (Saturday, March 22) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you’d like to help out, please plan to arrive at the garden whenever you are able to between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Garden work days are weather dependent and will be cancelled in the event of snow or heavy rain. If you have questions or need more information, please email our Garden Club coordinator, Liza Queen, at Liza@potlikkerbrooklyn.com.
- Volunteer with Our Free Book Friday Giveaways! We are looking for help with our Free Book Friday giveaways on most Fridays from now through May. During Free Book Friday, we hand out books from our donation boxes for FREE to our students after school, and we need volunteers to make this possible! If you’d like to assist, please sign up here.
- Help Our PTA Stock the Lounge! Our PTA’s Wellness Committee is asking for your help to stock the McKinley staff lounge with goodies. The Wellness Committee created an Amazon wish list here that has all of our staff’s favorite foods. Please take a look and make a purchase if you are able to. The items will be set up in the staff lounge as they arrive! Thank you!
