Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be participating in our annual Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) testing in April 2025. CMAS measures student proficiency on the Colorado Academic Standards. These standards provide clear and consistent guidelines on what students should know and be able to do at the end of the year, across grade levels and subject areas. These assessment results are intended to provide one measure of your child’s academic progress.

3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will each take math and literacy tests. Our 5th graders will also complete additional science testing, while our 4th graders will take an additional social studies test.

During our CMAS testing window, please help your child succeed by:

  • Schedule appointments and other absences on non-testing days. Research shows that students who are tested alone for make-up testing do not perform as well as their peers.

  • Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast on testing days.

  • Arrive at school on time (7:30 AM) on testing days. This ensures that your child can test with their class during our regular testing sessions rather than our make-up sessions.

  • Reassure your child that test scores are only one indicator of their progress, and they should just try their best! They should not stress or worry about the tests. We just want them to work hard and show their best efforts.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact our CMAS coordinator, Mrs. Courtney Waring at (720) 424-5600 or Courtney_Waring@dpsk12.net
