NO SCHOOL Next Week (March 30 to April 6)
Just a reminder that we have NO SCHOOL next week from Monday, March 30 to Monday, April 6. This is our spring break (March 30 to April 3), followed by a professional development & training day for our staff (April 6). School will resume on Tuesday, April 7!

Calm & Kind Family Workshop Series
Register here to reserve your space at our Calm and Kind Family Workshop Series! The Calm and Kind Family Program is designed to equip families with the tools they need to support their children emotionally in three key areas: mental health, self-regulation, and managing emotions. This two-part series runs on Wednesday, April 15 (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM) & Wednesday, April 22 (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM) in our school library. Families must attend both sessions. Sessions include learning materials, snacks, childcare, and Chik-Fil-A dinner after program completion, all FREE! Learn more about the Calm and Kind Families program here.
3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade Families:
CMAS Testing Is Coming in April
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be participating in our annual Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) testing in April 2026. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take CMAS math and literacy tests. Other School News
- Show Your Eagle Pride: check out the McKinley-Thatcher Parent-Teacher Association’s (PTA) online merch store for t-shirts and hoodies: click here to shop! All items are sold at cost and printed on demand so every Eagle can show their school spirit! If you’d like to go the extra mile, we also welcome donations to help fund the PTA’s mission of supporting our students, teachers, and community.
- Save-the-Date: registration for the 2026-2027 Discovery Link (DL) after-school care program, including the Little Links program, will open for McKinley-Thatcher Elementary on Monday, April 13 and run through Friday, April 17! For more information, please refer to the March 13 registration communication from Discovery Link here (Google Doc).
- Save-the-Date: our Parent-Teacher Association’s April fundraiser at Next Level Veggie Grill is coming up Wednesday, April 15! 5% of proceeds from all orders placed on this day will be donated back to our school. We’ll share more information after spring break.
- Save-the-Date: our annual school Talent Show will be held on Friday, May 22! New this year, the talent show will only be open to grades 3-5 due to the large amount of audition submissions last year.
Community News & Resources
- School Safety Summit: join the Denver Public Schools Department of Climate and Safety for the Student Safety Summit! This event will feature a resource fair, workshops, and expert speakers covering critical safety topics like bullying prevention, emergency management, and psychological safety. The summit will be held on Thursday, April 16 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Place Bridge Academy (7125 Cherry Creek N. Dr.). For more information in English, check out this flyer (PDF).
