REMINDER: No School on Monday, September 7

We have NO SCHOOL this coming Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. School resumes on Tuesday, September 8!

REMINDER: Attend a RODE Initiative Community Meeting

Denver Public Schools is hosting community meetings as part of the Redrawing Our District Equitably (RODE): School Boundary and Enrollment Zone Update initiative. Families are invited by the district to attend a meeting in their region to learn more, ask questions and share feedback that will help shape recommendations.

School News

  • Save-the-date: our annual Back-to-School Night event is Thursday, September 17 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. We’ll share more information next week!
  • Families of school bus riders: did you know that you can download an app to help track your student’s school bus? The Denver Public Schools Transportation Department has created a quick instructional video for the My Ride K-12 app. With this app, you can receive late bus alerts, view route information and see when your student scans on and off the bus! View the instructional video in English, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

  • 4th & 5th grade families: registration for our fall season of flag football is now open! Click here to see more information on our flag football flyer (PDF file), which is available in English (first page) and Spanish (second page).

    Please note that flag football is only open to 4th and 5th grade students.

  • Submit your contact information for our School Directory! We’d love to get everyone to fill out this form to make the directory as complete as possible, and you can fill in as much as you feel comfortable sharing. 
  • We’re hosting a PTA fundraiser with Lavender Coffee for the month of September! Visit them anytime during September – just a few blocks away at 1219 S. Pearl Street – and mention McKinley-Thatcher Elementary when you make your drink purchase and they will donate $2 back to the school. View more on our website!
