Help PTA Provide a Potluck Dinner for School Staff Next Week! 

Our PTA needs your help to support Family / Teacher Conferences next Tuesday (October 8) and Wednesday (October 9) by providing a taco night potluck dinner for the teachers and staff who dedicate their time to our students! 

Please kindly sign up to bring something for our Taco Night potluck here!

We are trying to provide about 40 meals for teachers – approximately 20 each night. Any leftovers from Tuesday night will be saved for Wednesday. 

Please keep in mind that a few teachers eat gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, or dairy-free meals, so we ask that you indicate common food allergens when providing your dishes.

Food and supplies should be dropped off between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the teacher’s lounge (Room 109) downstairs. Thanks so much for your support!

Share Your Voice Via DPS’s Family Survey!

The DPS “Your Voice / Tu Voz” Family Survey is opening on Monday, October 7 and will run through Friday, November 1. This survey focuses on measuring family satisfaction at McKinley-Thatcher and across the district. Your responses to the survey directly impact changes we make to better serve our students and families!

Beginning on Monday, October 7, families can access the survey here. The survey is available in the eight most common languages in DPS, including English, Arabic, Dari, Spanish, and Vietnamese! We’ll send out several reminders during the survey window, too.

National Walk / Roll to School Day Celebration:
Wednesday, October 9!

National Walk / Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 9. On this day, we will have a special celebrity guest, musician Munly J Munly of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, assisting our crossing guard during morning drop-off! 

Please help us celebrate by walking, riding your bike, using your wheelchair, scooter, skateboard, or riding RTD on October 9 to receive a raffle ticket to win an Illegal Pete’s gift card! 

If you need to drive to school, you can park one or more blocks away from the school and come through our gate at Louisiana & Logan to receive your raffle ticket. Our goal is to have everyone use human-powered transportation on this day!

  • Destination Imagination Teams at McKinley-Thatcher!

    Does your child like solving challenges, working with others, being creative, and striving to reach a goal? If so, Destination Imagination’s STEAM-based (science, tech, engineering, arts, and math) challenges might be a great fit! Destination Imagination prepares kids to be the innovators of the future by combining the arts, sciences, and technology with creativity, teamwork, and problem solving. 

    If your child would like to participate, complete the registration form here. Also, every team will need a team manager – if your child wants to sign up, please consider volunteering as their team’s leader.
