REMINDER:
NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 1!

We have NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day. School will resume on Tuesday, September 2! 

Join Our PTA for Their First Meeting of the Year: Friday, September 5

Our first PTA meeting of the year is Friday, September 5 at 7:30 AM (immediately after morning drop-off), under the gazebo on the playground. All grown-ups in our McT community are welcome!

PTA has three important roles at McT:

  1. Build Community! We host events throughout the year to have fun together and get to know each other better. 

  2. Support Our Teachers! We make sure our teachers know how much we appreciate them through wellness initiatives, classroom grants and more.

  3. Fundraise! We wish this was just for fun stuff like field trips and playground equipment, but unfortunately our budget from DPS does not even fully staff our school. We fundraise so our kids have important roles like a librarian, a school counselor, a health tech, and enough paras to go around. 

If any of the above are important to you, please join the meeting! We know you have places to be, so we’ll start promptly at 7:30 AM and keep it snappy!

  • Fall Jr. Ravens Minis Cheer Camp: Denver South Cheer is hosting their Fall Minis Cheer Camp and would love for McKinley-Thatcher students to join in the spirit! For more information and to register, see this Google form.

  • Hero Fest: on Saturday, September 6, families are invited to Hero Fest, a metro area event for all community members at South High School. This is a FREE event giving youth and their families the opportunity to meet many different first responders in our community. There will be many types of emergency vehicles to explore (helicopter, bearcat, firetrucks, ambulance, police cars, and horses!), numerous activities, and career exploration opportunities for youth at this event.   • Rosedale Harvest Sale: on Saturday, September 6 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Rosedale Community Garden is hosting their harvest sale at 2333 S. Logan St. Come by for local honey, baked goods, jams & sauces, organic produce, flower bouquets, crafts and more. You can even tour the garden! Please click here to view the event flyer.
