Over the past several weeks, our Collaborative School Committee has been advocating for budget assistance from the district, as well as making difficult decisions about staffing for the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, we are facing another difficult financial year – we have a $295,000 shortfall in our budget for the 2026-2027 school year.
Fortunately, we received $114,000 in budget assistance from the district to pay for one special education teacher position; however, we were not able to avoid further reductions in our staffing. These reductions in staff will occur across many programmatic areas within our school, including specials classes, special education staff, instructional paraprofessionals, and mental health staff.

We are working so hard to restore these positions to McT! With your help, our annual PTA auction can raise the critical funds we need to ensure that every student thrives at our school. Raising $250,000 via the auction will help preserve the essential programs and staff that make our school exceptional. Please consider all the ways you can give to support these fundraising efforts, and be sure to spread the word about our auction to family, neighbors, and friends. Our 2026 McKinley-Thatcher Auction is happening Friday, March 13, 2026 at Moss Denver! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and a true community celebration, all to help close our school’s funding gap. Auction tickets are on sale here! Your ticket includes:

To support our students, staff, and families who observe Ramadan, our school is:
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, during which most Muslims observe religious fasting. Fasting includes refraining from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset.
