New Digital Visitor Management System — March 3, 2026

Posted February 25, 2026

Dear McKinley-Thatcher families,

We’re writing to let you know about a change to the visitor check-in procedure in our main office coming on Tuesday, March 3. On this date, we will begin using a new digital visitor check-in software system called Raptor. The Raptor software system allows us to scan photo identification (ID) to generate personalized visitor badges, provides a digital log of all visitors to our building, and is part of our school district’s efforts to maintain safe and welcoming schools. Visitors will need to present a photo ID to sign in using the Raptor system.

How Does Raptor Check-In Work?

Using the Raptor iPad at our front desk, visitors will:

  1. Scan your state-issued photo identification using the camera on the iPad.
  2. Select the location you will be visiting within our school building.
  3. Receive a printed visitor’s badge from the Raptor system.
  4. Display the badge on your chest while in the building.
  5. Sign out in our main office & return your badge to us before you leave.

When Will I Sign In Using the Raptor System?

We use the Raptor system for:

  • Volunteers
  • Meeting attendees
  • Other school visitors who do not have a Denver Public Schools staff ID badge.
  • Please note: all visitors, even if you’ve been here many times, must present a photo ID to be checked in via the Raptor system each time you visit.

We do not use the Raptor system for:

  • Families who are dropping off or picking up their students from the main office.
  • Large school events, Parent-Teacher Association meetings, or field trips.
    • These visitors will sign in using our paper visitor log.

Raptor Frequently Asked Questions
