Save-the-Date: Round 1 of the 2027-2028 SchoolChoice Application Opens 12/1/26
If you have a student who will be enrolling in Denver Public Schools for ECE, kindergarten, or 6th grade next school year (2027-2028), please save-the-date for Round 1 of the SchoolChoice application window! Round 1 opens at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 1, 2026 and closes at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2027. Click here to see more information.
School News
- We are looking for volunteers to help out with lunch and recess supervision! We have two volunteer spots open daily from 11:05 AM to 11:55 AM. Depending on which slot you sign up for, you will be stationed in either the cafeteria or on the playground during your shift. Click here to see our SignUpGenius form.
- Reminder: registration for the winter session of our after-school enrichments is open now through Wednesday, November 11! View the enrichment course catalog by clicking here.
- Mark your calendars: we have no school from Monday, November 23 to Friday, November 27. This is our fall break. School resumes on Monday, November 30.

- Get ready for our November Restaurant Fundraiser with Maria Empanada and Divino Wine & Spirits happening next Thursday! Get breakfast, lunch, or dinner from our neighbor Maria Empanada and 25% of the total sales of all the guests who come in and identify themselves at the cashier when paying with CODE MMMM will go back to McKinley-Thatcher! Note that it applies ONLY to in-person purchases.
Also go a few doors down on Broadway to Divino Wine & Spirits to get a bottle of your favorite drink or stock up for later (and make sure to grab your holiday host gifts!)! They will be donating 30% back to our school when you mention “McKinley Give Back” on your purchase. View details on our website.

- CU Children’s Book Festival: families are invited to the CU Children’s Book Festival, a free public event on Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Boulder Public Library’s Main Branch.
