PTA’s October Restaurant Fundraiser @ Chook Charcoal Chicken

Our PTA’s October restaurant fundraiser is next Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18 at Chook Charcoal Chicken (1300 S. Pearl St.)! Families can order in-person or online to have a percentage of the proceeds donated to our school! Be sure to mention McKinley to your server if you’re ordering in-person. If you’re ordering online, use the code “SCHOOLS20” when you check out!

Save-the-Date:
School Halloween Celebration is Monday, October 31!

We will be celebrating Halloween at McKinley-Thatcher on the morning of Monday, October 31. We’ll share full plans for our celebration next week, but here’s our basic details for now!

  • K-5th Grade Celebration: Monday, October 31
    • 7:45am-8:00am – Costume Parade around our track (families are welcome!)
    • 8:00am-9:00am – Classroom Parties (sorry, no families due to space limitations!)
  • Our ECE classrooms will have different Halloween plans, so please check messages from your child’s teacher. 
  • We will have an alternative activity for children who do not celebrate Halloween. Families will be able to sign up for this activity when we share more Halloween information next week.
  • Halloween costumes must be school-appropriate and may not have full face masks, fake blood/gore, or weapons.

In Other News!

  • Fundraise for McKinley-Thatcher while supporting a neighborhood business and enjoying some great wine at the same time! Pearl Wine Company (PWC), a South Pearl St. staple, is hosting their annual anniversary wine tasting on Saturday, November 12 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. 100% of the proceeds from each tasting ticket purchased through our special McKinley-Thatcher link come back to our school.   • We all need internet access! The federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program offers families up to a $30/month discount on your internet (up to $75/month if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands) and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet or desktop computer! Visit www.affordableconnectivity.gov to see if your household qualifies!

  • If you or someone you know needs help paying their energy bill, DPS can help! Energy Outreach Colorado is partnering with DPS to offer families up to $2,000 towards past due utility payments! For more information and to see if you qualify, click here.

  • Interested in gymnastics? Check out upcoming gymnastic playgroups for kids at the University of Denver!
