This is Karen’s second year as the school librarian at McKinley-Thatcher. She was born and raised in Denver, and is a DPS alumna. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Colorado State University and her Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. Before coming to McKinley-Thatcher, Karen was a school librarian and long-term substitute teacher for a large suburban school district in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Some of Karen’s favorite things are reading and all things books, skiing, hiking, and traveling. When she is not at school, Karen likes to volunteer at the Denver Botanic Gardens, and spend time with her husband and family.
