Shannon was born and raised in Akron, Ohio in a family of five (including parents) with an older and younger sister who still live there today. She has always had a love for the arts, movement, and animals.

Shannon went to Kent State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater (costume design), a Masters Degree in Special Education, and finally her Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Shannon previously taught special education in Ohio as an intervention specialist from 2005-2011, and then started her career as a school psychologist in 2012. She started her career in DPS in 2018 (when she moved to Colorado), initially working in a charter school that was focused on physical health and movement, then a creative arts school where she has been since 2019.

Shannon is very passionate about finding new and innovative ways to “reach and teach” all students and considers herself a lifelong learner.  When she’s not in school, she loves spending time with her daughters, paddleboarding, running/hiking outdoors and working with her therapy dog in-training, Maury.
