Thanks to our PTA, we are excited to send home our brand-new second semester calendar magnets with all our school events and other need-to-know information! In-person students are bringing home their magnets today and remote families can stop by our remote learning supply cart anytime next week to pick theirs up. If you need extra magnets for dual households or other family members, grab them from the remote learning supply cart or give us a call at 720-424-5600.
A special thank-you to Snyder Realty Team, one of our school sponsors, for sponsoring our magnets!
We are sad to announce that the Denver Public Schools Early Childhood Education Department is closing our Model 1 ECE-3 program at the end of this school year. The program will not be offered at McKinley-Thatcher beginning next school year (2021-22). Our Model 1 classroom is a special program that serves children with unique needs alongside their general education peers. To better serve all students in the Model 1 program, the district is planning to move the program to a larger school with more staffing and resources beginning in the 2021-22 school year. Unfortunately, we do not yet know what school the Model 1 program will be moved to.
We must also share that, due to funding and budget restrictions, we are not able to offer a different ECE-3 program at McKinley-Thatcher next school year. We are greatly saddened by the end of our ECE-3 program, which has been a wonderful addition to our school for many years.
Please note: this change to our ECE-3 program does not affect the rest of this school year. Our ECE-3 classes will continue through the end of the 2020-21 school year as planned.
We know that the closure of our Model 1 ECE-3 program may change SchoolChoice plans for many of our families. We deeply apologize for this. Please call us at 720-424-5600 or email us at McKinley_Thatcher@dpsk12.org with any questions or concerns.
