Volunteer Request for Friday, March 4

Help our PTA do something super special for McKinley staff to show their support! PTA is planning to deliver our staff each their own customized coffee drink next week. They are asking for 15 volunteers to help pick up drinks and bring them to school at drop-off (7:30am) on Friday, March 4.

Save-the-Date: Modern Plate Meal Delivery Fundraiser in March!

PTA is partnering with Modern Plate Meal Delivery to host a two-week fundraiser from Friday, March 4 to Monday, March 21. Modern Plate delivers family-style, chef-crafted meals to your doorstep! More information about our fundraiser will come home next week. 

REMINDER:
DPS Mask Mandate Expiring on Monday, February 28

Denver Public Schools will no longer require masks for students or staff starting Monday, February 28, 2022. At McKinley-Thatcher, we will continue to prioritize our community’s health and safety. We have students that are too young to get vaccinated  and many staff members with children under age 5. We also have many staff and students with significant and chronic health conditions who are at high-risk for serious complications if they were to contract COVID-19. For these reasons, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all students and staff continue to wear a mask while indoors. 

We will continue to update the McT community as we learn more about changes to our district’s COVID-19 safety policies. Please call us at (720) 424-5600 with any questions!

In Other News…

  • Spring Progress Reports & Family Conferences: Student progress reports for kindergarten through 5 grade will be available in DPS’s Parent Portal beginning on March 9, 2022. Spring family conferences will be scheduled by teachers on an as needed basis. Please make sure to check your Parent Portal for your student’s most updated information about grades, attendance, and overall performance! To create a Parent Portal account, click here.

  • K-5th Grade Families: join Mr. J’s Jump Rope Club! Mr. J, our PE teacher, is excited to host his free, annual Jump Rope Club for kindergarten through 5th graders on Wednesdays after school in March and April! For more information and to register, please see the flyer that went home in today’s Friday Folders or check out our after-school enrichments page here.

  • ECE Families: please mark your calendars now for ECE’s last day of school, which is Wednesday, June 1. ECE students will not have school on Thursday, June 2 or Friday, June 3. The last day of school of kindergarten through 5th graders is Friday, June 3.

  • Resources for Families: we are excited to share information about two great resources available to McKinley-Thatcher families – Clothes to Kids and the Affordable Connectivity Program!

    Clothes to Kids, a Denver nonprofit, offers free school clothes to kids ages 3-21, and almost everyone is eligible! Check out more information here.

    The Affordable Connectivity Program, recently launched by the federal government, helps families get affordable internet service! Check out more information on the ACP here.

  • 3rd-5th Grade Families: registration for our spring season of Girls on the Run is currently open! Be sure to sign up by Friday, March 4 to ensure your student can attend the first day of practice on Monday, March 7. Visit our website for program details and registration!
